This fixed a platformer itch I didn't know I had. Thoroughly enjoyed it all the way. Its hard to criticize something I didn't have a problem with so 5 Stars for you my man. Hopefully you make more platformers instead of one and done'ing!

Cool concept, but the turning the lights off is more powerful than the game is challenging. You can just remember the layout and persist in that state until the next level. If you continue to work on this, you could possibly add some objective you have to obtain or complete that requires the lights to be on. Or a switching between the two, making the cooldown actually something.

I'd love to see this concept worked on further!

GabeMalk responds:

Yeah, to be honest, me too! But for now it's simply what it is.

I debated on not blam'ing this simply because this may be my computer, but the game doesn't fit the UI given to it its way smaller than that. The entire menu is unclickable. Not even audio loaded.

Like I said, maybe its just my computer. Though, I think I'm gonna stick to my intuition and say its your fuck-up. Fix this, as it is completely worthless in this state.

I have to say, I do quite enjoy this game, for some obvious reasons.."hehe" and some more genuine reasons.

1. I do like being rewarded for clicking my muscles into a self-induced spasm by getting new outfits and new CG's. Other than just.. "hey you got a new thing to help generate more [insert currency here]" So its more interesting.

2. It is very hard work trying to get these CG's so its quite a bit of hype to look forward to it.

2a. With the exception being Amber, but Im fairly certain you know why(but ill say it anyways.). "S t u b b o r n a s f u c k" It took me 45 minutes of my life trying to get the final CG to 100% this stress-test version of the game. Which is ridiculous since she got into the 6 millions area before I could unlock it. Her sudden spike in Will power just keeps skyrocketing. Fix that.

Other than that, the game was quite enjoyable. Music got a bit annoying, but you gave us the option to turn it off, so good on you.

Cya!

HypnoChanger responds:

Thanks, and yeah hopefully Amber will be less of a pain as I add more characters, so you can get more upgrades, unlocks and bonuses on new characters then go back and unlock new things on older characters as you get stronger.

I definitely enjoyed this, I didn't think much of it at first as usually first time games are just..not..good. But this one was a very pleasant surprise..the lack of colours other than a dull brownish orange really made me feel very...not okay with the situation my character was in, and reading the logs and seeing dead bodies definitely made me worry more. As I got closer to the ending, with each super vague log barely telling me what happened. The dread built up right before the final room. The room before the ending made me question everything I thought when my character didn't even comment on one of the bodies. Then I went into the final room and BAM it all made sense.

Now Im gonna stop relentlessly dicksucking the game. I really only have a few criticisms, one is more important and the other is a bit of personal thought, but would be a good idea.

First.
Sound, the fact that there is no audio takes me out of the immersion. Maybe not by a lot, but when you build up a story like this, it helps immensely. Even a low pitched droning would've been better than just silence.

Second. This is a more personal idea, but more colours.. adding more bleak colours like grey and faded brown would've helped a lot with the overall tone of this oddly creepy game. I mean it was good on its own, but always try to be better than good.

Anyways, conclusion. Game was great, just add some sound in this one or in a sequel, if you do it. (Please do) . And maybe a bit more diversity in colour palette. Keep up the work, starting off this great means only good things in the future.

Nirag responds:

Thank you for your kind words!
Sadly, Bitsy doesn't support sound at the moment (I really wanted to add an eerie ambience sound), so all Bitsy games come out mute.
I agree about the colours, too, but as of now bitsy allows only three colors per room (in my case, black, white, and brown).
Thanks again, I hope my future works will not disappoint you!

I have to say, this is clever, challenging, and simple. All of which at the same time. A crafty masterpiece. Not requiring much, but going far with little!

Only controls you have an need are given to you, right from the beginning.

(and it actually takes a remote amount of skill to do this)

Also, fucking love hard mode.

bridgs responds:

Hehe glad to hear you like hard mode! I didn't get to playtest it too much since I didn't find many strong-willed individuals willing to bang their heads against it, but I assumed they were out there somewhere :)

Thanks for the comment!

This game was only really built to be a message, and I like to think it conveyed that message pretty well.

The shock value is hilarious though.

(I feel like I made a review on this before, but its not showing up. But Im pretty sure I was dick-sucking so it don't matter, really.)

This games concept is amazing, the blind mechanic is not done a lot. Leaving it a nice new genre to an old pair of eyes. Putting the player in a situation of not being handed the information of the enemies instantly. You have to find out on your own

Concept is easily a 5/5 . I love seeing that the sound waves you give off slow down instead of stopping entirely, or just showing a flash of the enemy for a brief millisecond.

Gameplay 1/5 - I got frustrated with this game very quickly. Im actually gonna bullet it down. (To keep this review organized.)

• This game often pins you in situations where you're in a cool down and there is 4 projectiles at you. I've actually had a maximum of at least 10 projectile on screen at all times, which is BS because of the absolutely terrible blocking feature(Next pin)

• The Blocking Feature: doesn't sound bad on paper, but what it does is basically lock you in place and keeps you from doing your abilities. Mid-game where I've practically had projectile spam at all times, (B a d d e s i g n) I'd have melee enemies surrounding me at all times and my character blocks a projectile. Locking me in place for around two seconds before I get killed by an enemy.

• Projectiles: Well I don't know whether these are arrows or knives, they are brutal. Assuming on what your game starts out as, you can get about 5 projectiles thrown at you nigh instantly, and given how fucking slow your character is, there is a minimal chance of dodging. Even made worse by the blocking mechanic when you block one projectile and then the other one rams your ass to pieces. In that case, it really doesn't make sense why projectile enemies are there, they just seem like fun patrol. Remove them or nerf how much they can be simultaneous

Aesthetics 5/5: Well, given how the character can't really see, they don't matter T H A T much. But the playermodel does look fucking awesome, and the enemy attacks aren't extravagant so they're easy to process. (Love the little glint that goes on when a melee enemy is about to attack.)

Overall, I do like this game, in fact, I love it. But the gameplay simply being unfair against the player is not right. And I don't believe the retarded "git gud" term applies here when the game locks you in place. I really would like to see a revision of the cooldown system because it is bullshit in its current state.

Possible Revision:

•If you hit a projectile or an enemy, your cooldown should be instant so you can attack the next enemy that could possibly be knee deep in your asshole already.

•Lower the cooldown on dash D R A M A T I C A L L Y. I'm not saying make it so you can dash around the entire space near instantly, just make it so your not a sitting duck for a while and you can dash a few times to get out of the way of projectiles or enemies.

•Make it so you can immediately attack after a dash and vice versa.

I'm not saying make this game easy, I'm just saying, make this game possible.

PS: Holy shit, my largest review on such a simple game. (3454 Characters.) I feel like I'm gonna be writing much longer reviews in the future. (Google Docs here we go)

Anyways, Cya!

I have to say, this is incredibly well done! From the art to the actual gameplay, its quite fun!

Gameplay
*Pros: Well thought out, yet simple fighting mechanics. Simple main attack, guard break, a finisher, and the dash*.
Requiring very little of the keyboard but movement and combat. (Personal Thing, I hate when games make you use the entire keyboard.)

*Controls are easy to get used to and hard to master. Love it.

Cons:
*Game feels slow, and I know it's not any sort of frame-rate issue, it takes a (relatively) long time to get from A to B sometimes. (Recolouring your character and then going straight to the door takes 5 seconds.)
*Attacks (from both player and opponent) feel kinda slow. Like trying to move your arm as fast as you can through water.
*If the player is inside the enemy, the enemy can land hits, but the player can't.

Art Style: I always wondered how something so simplistic as a stick figure could be on such a detailed background, but you did it. Kudos to you! You also managed to really pull off the bleak setting of this world, just like what the intro said, it really does feel like a desolate, hateful land. 5/5

Music: Depressing as shit. Fits good, love it.

RPG System: Love the Lite RPG elements, health, stamina, strength. While they feel passive, they play a great role in the game. Don't understand weapon upgrading, since strength is already there. Love the multiple weapon choice though. I think the swords shoulda just remained cosmetic.

All in All 4 Stars. Woulda gave it a 5, but the gameplays overall sluggishness kinda brings it down.
I 100% Recommend this to friends though! Keep up the good work!

I gotta say, sticking with you since Breaking The Bank was the best damn Idea I've ever had, fun too.
I thoroughly enjoyed every-single one of the games up to here.
Probably just a sucker for PaC Adventure games. But they have been fun to play with and experience.

So yeh. 5/5

PuffballsUnited responds:

Thanks for sticking (no pun intended) around! It means a lot to me.

trying to get good with guitar.
